So its March...which...is...EXCITING! Why? Because according to the archives we've been posting since March 20th, 2008...making this our anniversary month! I wanna post a real sentimental thingy and some special stuff but I'm going to wait till the actual day. So stay tuned for that! However some news just cant wait. Last month we received 5,000 hits. That's almost double our January visits! OMGZ! No seriously, that's just amazing. I'd like to thank everyone for stopping by, and reading my babbling. One of the things I am most proud of with this site is the fact that we have been able to set so many things right in Silent Film (and film overall) history. The Debunking Hollywood Babylon series really exceeded my expectations. That book always annoyed me, but to find that is our most popular article(s) (if you wanna get technical), and to get so many thank yous from it...its just amazing. I'm sitting every day waiting for the final word, but I'm hoping by the 20th there will be some amazing news to announce. I can't promise it'll be here by then, but I'm hoping. And if it happens by that date it will be amazing. Someday those sentences will make sense LOL!
I'd also like to thank those who have checked out the brand new sister site http://perpetualflapper.blogspot.com/ . Much like my foray into Silents I was surprised by the interest and reaction. Almost immediately that site began getting fantastic feedback. If you haven't visited yet you should, there's a lot of silent film references (and pics) as that's about the only language I speak these days. Even though I'm out to help the ladies, I still eagerly await the day men dress nicely, wear hats, and act like Valentino (and if you are such a man the contact link is on the right hand side of your screen.)
The Silent Film Schedule has been updated for March-May. As is the Silent Screenings. I must confess I'm a little underwhelmed by 2 months of Buster...as much as I tried to like the 2 months of Harold I ended up not finishing out the second month (I'm a not a gaggy slapstick fan). I did enjoy The General, so I am curious to see more Buster. I'm pretty sure he's second in the top 3 so maybe it wont be too bad.
One final note is if you are in the LA area I am looking for a photographer. Amateur will do (in other words you can hold and work a camera and have some free days every now and then) but pro is welcome. No pay but some good shots for a portfolio and if you're reading this I'm assuming you're a silent fan, and this will be an extremely fantastic silent project. Any interest please let me know at misspickford@forgetthetalkies.com
