Halloween: Hala as Theda Bara

I don't usually post pictures of myself. This isn't THAT kinda blog. But its relevant. To make things even more interesting my roommate dressed as Charlie Chaplin, but we failed to get a picture together which I find a shame.

(me on the right)

I'm normally blonde which is why I wanted to go as Mary. But like I complained in the last Halloween blog that just wasn't happening. So I went with my back up plan: Theda Bara. By chance I found just the right pieces which to me resembled this picture:

So I went for it. This was my attempt at vaguely resembling that above pose:

To make matters even more fun we were venturing around Hollywood and for the first time I got up close to Charlie Chaplin's studio. I've driven by it many a time but never actually bothered to park around there. We took some fun photos but what I found most interesting was the fact that by the drawing of the Little Tramp (below the Kermit statue, as Jim Henson's Company owns the studio now) is Charlie's FOOTPRINTS! A few of em at that! Apparently he placed them there in 1918 but no one ever mentions this...most people just lament he wasn't at the Chinese Theatre, or think he was. I tried to take a picture, but it was dark:

Happy Halloween everyone! And don't forget: if you took any Silent themed Halloween pics send em my way by November 5th and they will be posted!

I was Chaplin for Halloween.....40 years ago. Wore my dad's old coat and a plastic derby.

Throughout college I was consistently Groucho Marx- I had the hair for it, and in the 1970's Groucho was cool on campus. At one campus party I was one of FOUR Grouchos- we formed a pack.

These days (if I bother to go out) I just wear my Shriner Suit.
