The Silent Movie Theatre is running a 'Fantasy' theme for September. I'm not gonna lie: it sounds boring to me. But so did Westerns and I ended up really enjoying those. However the kick off film is one I am DYING to see: Thief of Baghdad.
They screened "The Gaucho" a few weeks back and I must say Douglas Fairbanks was just a damn likable guy. On top of just enjoying his charisma for an hour or so "Thief of Baghdad" is notable for its special effects (the flying carpet) and the scantily clad Anna May Wong in a role that had she been white would have launched her into stardom (it kinda did but the momentum died off due to the racism of the time).
