Update on Theda: No new footage!

When I did Theda Bara's epic-ly complicated filmography I mentioned this clip under Surviving:

*Stars of Yesterday
1931. Prints of this film still exist at both Pacific Film Archives California and the UCLA Film and Television Archives. What type of Theda footage is found in the film is unknown at it has never been released on VHS or DVD.

Well...dear Theda fans who keep hope eternal (myself included) I have some bad news: nothing new. I checked it out today and it was horribly disappointing. It starts with "Stars of Yesterday" then "Theda Bara" and shows the scene from "A Fool there Was" where shes sneering at the kids. ODDLY this is the ONLY footage of her in this I think 6 minute clip. They show the family scenes that follow it...but don't involve Theda. Then it just abruptly ends.

And after the abrupt ending it goes right into another movie. It doesn't tell you WHICH movie or who its 'starring'. It involved a man being mistaken for another man, a car chase, and a dog. I wonder if it might be Rin Tin Tin but I'm honestly not sure. Had nothing to do with Theda. This clip ends abruptly too...and that's it.

WHAT the point of this was I have no clue. Even for a little 'pre feature' bit its enormously underwhelming and confusing. Good quality though. I'm very VERY sad to know it had nothing new in it.

On another note I requested to see the 'unidentified clip' but they said it was just too deteriorated. Which makes me wonder what the point is. I wish someone could at least record what was on there (or have done that when they acquired it). According to the catalog description its bits and pieces...not even a full little thing of film. Very sad.
