I got to playin around on youtube today, and instead of the usual barrage of wretched Katie Melua performances (I'm sorry she's boring and I doubt anyone from the country of Georgia knows who Mary Pickford is) I found some real gems. So of course I decided to share.
First up is a newsreel of Mary's marriage to Buddy as well as the honeymoon and some press appearances afterwards. Mary in a swimsuit! Not something I guess you'd think of when you think of Pickford, but hey she looked good in it. Considering she was 45 in those clips it really makes you wonder how she stayed so gorgeous so long. In addition to the newsreels are some home movies, showing her relaxed at Pickfair. Neat stuff!
The second clip is one I mentioned during the Silents Talk post. Mary never made a film in color...of her own. And she never appeared on TV minus the Oscar Ceremony in the 70s. The one and ONLY time she appeared on film in color was during Bing Crosby's "Star Night at the Cocoanut Grove Nightclub" in 1934. It's less than 5 minutes, she does a little unconformable banter, and then introduces Bing's next song. She also mentions her radio career. A neat little clip.

flapper, but she totally was in a chic sort of way. Her cute little cloche
