Cinecon 44

My bad on this one! I meant to post about it no less then two weeks ago but it kept slipping my mind. My apologies! See this is why people need to send me press releases and such about events...otherwise my eagle eye can't catch everything. If you have such an event see the right hand side of the page to contact me!

Regrets aside its not too late! Tonight kicks off the 44th annual Cinecon Classic Film Festival here in Hollywood. The whole affair can be kinda pricey especially if your from out of town, but compared with the Silent Film Festival its about right. Besides if you just by night passes the price is downright delicious!

Cinecon runs August 28th to September 1st; and includes screenings, a memorabilia show (please keep me away from it! My pocket book hurts THINKING about it!), celebrity guests, and various other activities. Its one of the oldest such festivals and its great to see it continue each year!

For a full schedule of events click here. Below are my personal picks:

Thursday August 28th
*Tillie's Punctured Romance (supposedly a very good print), 10:20pm

Friday August 29th
*The Awful Good (starring Charley Chase who I ADORE), 1:30pm
*The MollyCoddle (Douglas Fairbanks, comedy?), 9:40pm

Saturday August 30th
*Triumph (a rare incomplete Lon Chaney), 10:10am
*Modern Love (another Charley Chase!), 2:15pm
*Sky High (starring Tom Mix), 3:40pm

Sunday August 31st
*The Cocktail reception...cuz Isle of Love made me need a drink, 7:15pm

Monday September 1st
*Mammy (Al Jolson, IN COLOR), 2pm
*Speedy (Harold Lloyd), 3:35pm

Screening Passes
You can buy a 'whole Cinecon' pass for $80-$150 (depends what you want in your package). If that doesn't interest you then you can get a day pass, which varies between $25 and $30 depending which day it is. You can purchase day passes at the door. Click here for more information.

Memorabilia Show and Book Fair

Both run throughout the festival. You can buy a pass for $5 even if you don't attend the screenings. Click here for more information.
