Silent Ebay Watch: Valentino, Pickford, and Pickford!

I'm going to try and make this a regular feature. Mainly because I find it cool that 80 years after silents (mostly) ended that people are still paying big money for some really cool stuff. So if your too poor to partake enjoy what I call "Silent Ebay Watch"!

*Disclaimer: I am not the seller of any of these items. And I am not paid or in the know of any of these sellers. Its allllll good.*

Valentino: Navy Blue Robe that graced that beautiful torso

For a robe Valentino owned and apparently wore (how do you prove that?) someone paid $811. Personally I wouldnt mind sleeping in that at night! But would have been worth so much more with Valentino IN it.

Mary Pickford: Estate Catalogue

In the vein of 'more eery memorabilia' is an estate catalogue from after the death of Mary Pickford. Apparently it had a 100 pages and over a 1,000 items from her life and career. It went for just over $207. A Valentino estate catalouge was up for auction a few months back and if I remember right thats about what it went for as well despite being older. Cool and sad.

Lottie Pickford: The Diamond from the Sky promo postcard

Ah Queen Lottie! In all my ebay watching this is seriously the first item of hers I've seen. And I didnt fully realize how cool it was until I got it :). Yep I won this one! Only $10 but really awesome. Its a promotional postcard for her serial "The Diamond from the Sky" which given how rare Lottie is Im sure its one of a kind at this point. According to the pre printed type on the 'write here' space "She's Great!" Oh and the film cost "$800,000". Now you dont see that in research material!!!
